Ministries for Health

What do prayer shawls, apples at coffee hour, Zumba, and healing services have in common?  These are some ministries that support the health and wellbeing of the people in our churches and the communities we serve!

If you are visiting this section you already have one or more ministries that include care for the health of those within your congregation and you are looking for additional resources OR you are wondering, “What is a Health Ministry and why are churches involved?”  These are common questions.  The answers are (1) care of self and (2) care of others.

(1) In this life we only have one "vehicle" through which to carry out the work we are called to do - our body.  We honor God by caring for this gift of life to the best of our ability.

(2) Jesus instructed us to go forth preaching, teaching, and healing.  Ministries of health actively care for the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health and wellbeing of those around us.

Health ministry activities are important to individuals of all ages within our congregation.  Not only does everyone have a chance to serve, as we care for one another each of us may also receive the gift of being served.

I look forward to working with your leaders in your congregation as you explore ways that we may mutually care for all God’s children.
