The Rhode Island Conference Division of Outdoor Ministry has done a tremendous amount of facilities work at Irons Homestead this year, and is now asking churches to help defray the costs by participating in a clothing and book drive.

Churches are encouraged to collect donations of clothing and books at their churches and then have delegates bring them to the Conference's Autumnal Meeting at Central Congregational Church in Providence on Nov. 4. A truck will be waiting there to receive donations (they will be accepted at the meeting only.)  Cash donations will also be welcome.

The committee is hoping to raise $1,000 through fundraising to help defray the costs of the work that is being done at the retreat center. That work has included electrical and plumbing work and the installation of new sinks, stove, dishwasher, refrigerator and freezer to transform the Farm House kitchen into a commercial kitchen, which has been certified by the state for food service. The center has also purchased a new washer and dryer, which will allow for linen service, and has upgraded emergency lighting and a bathroom.

Anyone with questions about the fundraising drive or who needs to make other donation arrangements can contact Mark Dennen at 401-354-9377 or at  zenmartialartist@gmail.com. or if you need to make other arrangements.
