Workshop Descriptions:

Be the Church today, and Vision Tomorrow!
Thinking beyond butts and bucks, how do we measure success? How do we get to be your very best version of church, in conversation with our congregants, community and God?  Introducing: a vision planning tool which uses an assessment as an entry point, and then invites you to plan ahead how to grow in the areas where your community has passion!  Using the Logic Model as a leap off point, this tool is meant for extensive engagement, and can be used as a marker along the way to measure your path.  The workshop will do a brief entry point into the free resource from the National Setting of the UCC, developed by the Center for Analytics, Research and Data (CARD), Congregational Assessment, Support, and Advancement (CASA), and Church Building & Loan.

Social Justice in Southern New England
Our God is a God of justice and mercy, who calls us to follow in Jesus’ footsteps to be agents of change in our communities and throughout the world. What is happening in southern New England and how are our churches involved? This panel discussion will be led by a handful of regional leaders (from MA, RI, and CT) who will share with us efforts that they or other local churches are engaged in. How have these efforts been of benefit to the local church and what are some challenges of such engagement? This will be a morning for inspiration, conversation, and exploration.
What’s New in the UCC?!
Emerging ministries are taking place across the life and breadth of our denomination! This workshop will lift up some of the new ministries and faith innovations in the United Church of Christ and engage themes found throughout them all.  Spiritual innovation invites a call for our local churches to think together about how to be creative in who we are as church, and how we do church in the context of our communities.  Those who register for this workshop will also get a detailed printout of the demographics of your church’s neighborhood.
Finding the Gospel in Surprising Places: From 1517-2017
The internet is doing the same thing for Christianity that the printing press did.  And on the 500th year anniversary of the reformation, of course there are movements in Christianity showing who we are, and alluding to who we will be!  Come to learn about the emerging trends of spiritual movement, as well as imagine what our own reformation will be.  This workshop will engage the work of millennial leaders and spiritual innovators, inviting conversation about where the Gospel moves in the world within and beyond our churches.
