Photographer Posts E-book Showcasing Mathewson Street Church Friendship Prayer Breakfast

Photographer, photojournalist and humanitarian Jan Armor has spent three years coming to "The Breakfast" almost every Sunday to take quality portraits of the 200 people who come to fellowship, eat, and worship together at the Mathewson Street Church. The Friendship Breakfast is supported by a wide variety of churches in the Providence area, including several UCC churches.

"Armor got to know people very personally. He wanted to share his talent of photography to help especially homeless people tell their stories," said the Rev. Jack Jones. "There are many profound and wonderful stories either written or based on interviews with the homeless and food insecure who participate, but also the many participants whose lives have been touched and transformed by the courage and strength...and faith of this 'beloved community'."

"The photographs and text in this book capture both the spirit, beauty, and strength of the homeless community and the magnitude of the challenges faced by its members," said Megan Smith, MSW, Outreach Program Manager for The House of Hope CDC
